Zack Kline

Founder, Chief Executive Officer

Zack Kline is the CEO and Founder of Rockville, MD-based A.I.R. (a Montgomery County Green Certified Landscaping Business), which offers natural, organic lawn care, robot-mowing, and ecological landscaping services. Kline is an Accredited Organic Land Care Professional, Chesapeake Bay Landscape Professional, and Maryland Certified Pesticide and Fertilizer Applicator, who studied Marketing and Information Systems at the Perdue School of Business at Salisbury University (SU). While attending SU Kline developed a business plan for A.I.R. to solve the issues of gasoline-powered outdoor power equipment, synthetic fertilizers, and pesticides, as well as non-native invasive plant use; winning the business school’s competition that provided seed money for A.I.R. to get started in 2011.

Zack, who considers himself an environmentalist, likes the triple-bottom-line approach to business that emphasizes people, planet, and profit. Kline is active in local advocacy including providing supporting testimony for Montgomery County, MD’s Healthy Lawns Act of 2016, and the District of Columbia’s Leaf Blower Regulation Amendment Act of 2018.

Zack has been serving on the Board of Directors of the Landscape Contractors Association of DC, MD, and VA since 2020, and presently as the Treasurer. As a board member, his main priority is to help the LCA members be more innovative and sustainable in their business models through accreditations, certificates, education, and training. Kline was awarded the 2022 LCA’s Emerging Professional Award for his leadership on sustainability and pioneering solutions for the Landscaping Industry.

Zack is also the Mid-Atlantic Representative for AGZA (American Green Zone Alliance), which provides education and training to contractors, municipalities, and institutional workers on low-impact, battery-powered landscape tool operations.

In his free time, Zack enjoys spending time with his partner, two dogs, and their cat at their Sustainable Suburban Sanctuary. Cooking and consuming plant-based meals remains one of his favorite things to do in addition to hiking, mountain biking, working out, and sharing his passion for protecting the environment.
